Meredith practices primarily in the area of higher education law. Meredith regularly counsels clients on issues related to Title IX and sexual misconduct, FERPA and other privacy and confidentiality laws and standards, faculty tenure, disability accommodations (ADA and Section 504), service and assistance animals, student discipline, and program-specific technical standards. She has extensive experience assisting colleges and universities with drafting and implementing internal policies and procedures, counseling them regarding corporate governance issues, and defending them in connection with investigations by government agencies, including the Office for Civil Rights. She is part of a McGuireWoods team that teaches the Higher Education Practicum at the Washington and Lee University School of Law and has served on the North Carolina Bar Association's Education Law Section.

Prior to her current practice as a higher education lawyer, Meredith was a corporate lawyer focused on complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, and private equity and venture capital investments. Her practice also included regular general corporate representation, including negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts and advising clients on corporate governance matters. Meredith also has experience with a variety of financing transactions, including project financings, revolving credit facilities, asset-based financings and other credit facilities.

Meredith is also actively involved in providing pro bono legal services to nonprofit organizations, regularly incorporating, merging, and providing guidance to North Carolina nonprofit corporations.

In addition to the practice of law, Meredith is responsible for steering the development and implementation of the McGuireWoods’s knowledge management infrastructure and strategic direction. Focusing on quality, efficiency, value, and client service, she works to define and implement systems, processes, and innovative solutions that enable the firm to use its collective knowledge to provide cutting-edge legal services to its clients worldwide.
