Rebecca’s practice focuses on handling appeals in state and federal courts and other major matters and motions for McGuireWoods clients. She was previously a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and has clerked at all three levels of the federal judiciary. In addition to her U.S. Supreme Court experience, Rebecca clerked for Judge Raymond A. Jackson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Norfolk, Virginia, and for Judge Michael Boudin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston, Massachusetts.

Rebecca has authored appellate briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Ninth Circuits, and state appellate courts across the country.  She has successfully opposed review in the U.S. Supreme Court, successfully sought and opposed review in the Virginia Supreme Court, and argued a business case in the Virginia Supreme Court.  She has also assisted in various governmental investigations and has represented a number of clients in Virginia state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Rebecca graduated first in her class from the University of Virginia School of Law. Prior to attending law school, she was a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy for five years, and served aboard a guided missile destroyer through two deployments to the Persian Gulf in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Rebecca earned her undergraduate degree in government from Harvard University, where she had a four-year scholarship in the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC).
