He is experienced in all aspects of civil procedure, discovery and motions practice.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, James was a commercial litigator for a boutique litigation firm in Alexandria, Virginia. He devotes a portion of his practice to providing pro bono legal guidance to less fortunate members of the local community and has represented criminal defendants who could not afford an attorney.

From 2009 to 2010, James clerked for the Honorable Claude M. Hilton, United States District Judge at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. While attending George Mason University School of Law, James was a member of the George Mason Law Review and the moot court team.
