Meaghan Downey Kolebuck Counsel

Meaghan is a seasoned real estate transactional and development attorney. She has extensive experience representing national and international retailers in acquiring, developing and leasing retail sites and stores throughout the United States.

She has represented developers, private equity firms, capital funds and national homebuilders in acquiring, developing, leasing, financing, and selling shopping centers, commercial office buildings, mixed-use developments, and large-scale residential planned unit communities.  She has extensive land development, due diligence, title and survey review, and bonding experience.  She has formed corporations, limited liability companies and other entities for the purposes of owning, developing and managing real estate assets.  Prior to joining McGuire Woods, Meaghan was the Senior Corporate Counsel of Real Estate for one of the largest grocery store chains in the world.


Represented large international retailer expanding to the United States in acquiring, developing, and leasing large portfolio of properties

Represented Mid-Atlantic developer in developing mixed-use development,  comprised of 700,000 square feet of retail, 3 million square feet of office, and 1,040 residences; responsible for drafting and processing for approval virtually all of the development documents associated with this project       

Represented private equity firm in developing 4,000 acre residential planned unit community; responsible for drafting and processing for approval virtually all of the development documents associated with this project 

Represented real estate investment trust in leasing 150,000 square foot shopping center to retail tenants

Represented Fortune 500 corporation in selling a 348 acre golf course and certain hotel and FAR entitlements within a mixed-use development

Represented developer in developing 430 ready-to-build homesites and in selling them to a national homebuilder

Represented American insurance company in selling a 40 acre commercial office park and shopping center

Represented company in purchasing 770 lots in land bank transaction

Represented developer in purchase of two medical office buildings

Represented national shopping center REIT in purchasing three shopping centers
