Melissa regularly counsels clients in the areas of estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning, charitable planning and complex intra-family transfers. Her practice is distinguished by the comprehensive, proactive and collaborative approach she brings to all aspects of her work with clients.
Melissa’s experience also includes advising clients on their charitable goals and assisting charities with their formation and ongoing compliance. She has previously served as outside counsel to a community foundation, sits on the Board of The John Crosland School and currently counsels other non-profits and charities.
Assisted in the successful defense of a caveat proceeding in Florida based on undue influence and lack of testamentary capacity brought by a descendant of a Florida decedent.
Drafted opinion letter for New York counsel stating a good faith argument can be made that the limited liability company law would prevent an involuntary transfer of partnership interests.
