Daniel is a litigator concentrating on complex commercial litigation, representing clients from a diverse array of industries in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Daniel’s experience includes commercial contract matters, business torts, property disputes, trade secret litigation, qui tam actions, and First Amendment issues.

As a member of the firm’s Appeals and Issues team, Daniel has significant experience before state supreme courts and in federal appeals. Daniel brings this appellate expertise to his trial litigation practice.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Daniel completed judicial clerkships with the Honorable Daniel T.K. Hurley of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Honorable Susan Black of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit

Representation of major state contractor in qui tam action arising from $60 million maintenance agreement.

Assists trustees in responding to third-party subpoenas in civil and criminal proceedings and defends trustees against direct claims of improper management of investments or other breaches of fiduciary duties.

Representation of Class I railroad in complex litigation involving property and contract disputes, federal preemption, and administrative proceedings.

Obtained restraining order and injunction for major franchisor after disgruntled ex-franchisee published defamatory radio advertisement. Defeated ex-franchisee’s First Amendment objections and successfully defended injunction on appeal.

Successful proactive and defensive enforcement of arbitration agreements in state and federal courts.

Representation of major financial institution in multiple parallel federal and state class actions asserting claims of fraud, unjust enrichment, and violations of consumer protection statutes.

Obtained summary judgment for Fortune 500 financial software firm in contract and patent dispute and defense of judgment on appeal.
