Mindy McGrath counsels energy clients, providing business advice, litigation services, compliance assistance and training, and other legal guidance. She represents clients in administrative litigation matters before state public service commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Before FERC, Mindy assists clients with natural gas operations in matters relating to the Natural Gas Act (NGA). For example, she has represented both interstate gas pipelines and pipeline customers in NGA Section 4 rate case proceedings before FERC. Mindy also has obtained NGA Section 7(f) Service Area Determinations, and frequently advises clients on FERC’s enforcement process. Other illustrative experience includes preparing and obtaining a certificate for an NGA Section 7 salt dome storage facility and associated market-based rate authorization, as well as representing a municipality seeking approval of a hydroelectric services agreement before FERC.

Mindy’s energy practice draws from, and benefits from, her litigation background. Prior to focusing on regulatory matters confronting the energy sector, Mindy handled complex commercial litigation. She has represented clients in contract, employment, trade secrets, commercial real estate, equipment leasing and collection disputes in state and federal courts throughout North Carolina and in other jurisdictions.

Mindy has received numerous awards for her commitment to pro bono and public service. She volunteers with the Council for Children’s Rights and partners with Safe Alliance to represent victims of domestic violence.
