Michael represents management in all aspects of labor and employment litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts. His practice includes representation of a broad array of employers in single and multiplaintiff wrongful termination, employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, and wage/hour cases.

He also has considerable experience representing employers in various industries in wage/hour class and collective action lawsuits throughout the country. He has represented employers in a variety of industries in class and collective action litigation in state and federal courts. Those industries include financial services, food and beverage, hospitality, retail, telecommunications, healthcare, and insurance.

Michael has broad experience in all phases of civil litigation, from pre-filing settlements through trial. He also possesses significant appellate experience, including several published opinions.

Apart from his litigation practice, Michael regularly provides advice and counsel to his clients in areas such as employee terminations/discipline, wage and hour issues, and leaves of absence.

Following law school, Michael served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Ronald S.W. Lew of the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Michael was named a "Super Lawyer" by Super Lawyers magazine in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Prior to that, Michael was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.

Class and collective actions asserting misclassification and off-the-clock overtime and minimum wage violations, meal and rest periods violations, and related claims.

Class actions asserting employee business expense reimbursement violations and related claims.

Class actions challenging the terms and administration of bonus and incentive compensation plans.

Hybrid nationwide FLSA collective actions and state law class actions asserting misclassification and off-the-clock overtime and minimum wage violations and related claims.

Representative Trial Court, Arbitration & Appellate Decisions

Representation in putative nationwide collective action of global financial services company. Resulted in granting of motion to dismiss with prejudice based on the lead plaintiff’s lack of standing.

Representation in putative statewide private attorney general action alleging failure to provide suitable seating to employees. Resulted in court granting motion to dismiss with prejudice.

Representation in putative statewide class action alleging that client’s background check policy was illegal. Resulted in court granting motion to dismiss with prejudice.
