Morgane is a Belgian qualified lawyer who counsels clients in Information Technology (IT), Data Privacy and Intellectual Property law both at international and national level (especially Belgium and France). Her experience includes auditing and evaluating clients’ data protection compliance, drafting notice and policies, compliance with the GDPR and drafting different kind of agreements in the area of Intellectual Property law, data protection and IT law, as well as defence of clients in these matters. Morgane also has an experience in advising clients in relation to registered and non-registered intellectual property law and in trademark portfolio management and infringement.

Morgane was able to develop an analytical mind and a strong knowledge in Intellectual Property and Private International Law with a one year experience as a researcher in a major Belgian University. After this experience as a researcher, Morgane joined the French Brussels Bar in 2016.

Before joining McGuireWoods in 2017, Morgane gained a previous experience by working in the legal department of a French public sector financial institution, especially in data protection compliance and by carrying out due diligence in IP and IT law.

Morgane holds the CIPP/E certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

After she obtained a degree in Journalism and Communication in 2010, Morgane received her Law degree from Université Catholique de Louvain in 2014. She completed an Erasmus exchange at the University of Geneva (focused on private international law and comparative law).

Morgane also obtained a Certificate in Transnational law from the University of Geneva and she completed her cursus with a trilingual LLM at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (campus Brussels) in ICT and Intellectual Property law.

Assists in representing clients in opposition proceedings before IP Offices

Assist in advising a client in IT project, including but not limited to contractual and strategic issues, intellectual property issues and risk analysis in a pre-litigation context

Assists in advising clients in co-existence agreements

Assists in advising a European group on GDPR compliance, including but not limited to (on-site) audits, preparation of the register, risk analysis and preparation of internal/external policies.
