Megan has over 12 years of both private and public sector experience in land use planning and zoning processes in primarily Arlington County, the City of Alexandria and the District of Columbia.
Having been employed at a land use law firm specializing in Arlington County matters, Megan was able to gain extensive knowledge of the land use processes of Arlington County. Also, through her public sector experience at the Office of Planning in the District of Columbia, Megan was able to expand her experience into the zoning and land use processes unique to the District.
In her private sector role, she prepared development site analyses for developer clients; prepared land use applications; drafted persuasive letters and statements justifying clients’ requests; engaged in communications with civic groups; presented before public review bodies; and most importantly, forged valuable relationships with public sector development staff. In her role at the Office of Planning, she primarily reviewed development requests of all scales including large, mixed use PUDs and small scale development with minor relief. She analyzed the requests in terms of the Zoning Regulations and the comprehensive plan elements. She then presented the Office of Planning’s findings before the Board of Zoning Adjustment and the Zoning Commission, as well as fielded questions from interested citizens justifying the Office of Planning’s position.
What makes Megan unique is that she can navigate clients through the inner workings of land use processes of Arlington, the District of Columbia and Alexandria based on her knowledge and established relationships.
