George's practice focuses on intellectual property law and technology litigation, with an emphasis on software development, licensing and ownership disputes, trademark and copyright protection, and other business and contract disputes. He advises clients in a wide range of industries, including information technology, healthcare, communications, financial services and manufacturing. George joined McGuireWoods in 2006 when McGuireWoods and the technology law boutique, Gordon & Glickson, merged.

As an undergraduate at Northwestern, George studied psychology, was a residence assistant and had the opportunity to participate in the Semester at Sea program through the University of Pittsburgh. George distinguished himself as a Regent's Fellow at Texas A & M University where he studied rhetoric. George attended law school at the University of Chicago Law School where he was part of the University of Chicago Law School Roundtable and the Law and Internet Forum.

In April 2011, George was a featured commentator on CNBC’s Street Signs with Erin Burnett, where he discussed privacy issues with respect to the iPhone’s ability to gather information and track individuals’ whereabouts.

Represented a telecommunications joint venture in a complex commercial arbitration against a software developer who committed to rewrite the software running the North American 1-800 Toll Free database system. Won a favorable outcome for our client in a month-long arbitration conducted before Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services.

Assisted a prominent dental practice to secure trademark protection for its practice name and logo. Represented the company in securing rights to the associated domain name.

Represented a ship maintenance software vendor in claims against ABS Nautical Systems, a subsidiary of the American Bureau of Shipping, in an arbitration for breach of a joint venture agreement, fraud and copyright infringement. Following discovery, a favorable settlement was reached through negotiations that began with a self-administered mediation.

Represented a leading German tire company in the defense and settlement of claims that its advertising infringed upon a competitor’s trademark. Helped the German client navigate the U.S. discovery process and reach a favorable resolution to the dispute.

Helped a nanotechnology startup company pursue claims against a government-run national laboratory regarding failures to abide by technology transfer obligations contained in the parties’ licensing agreement in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico. The case involved “lab-on-chip” chemical agent detection systems. Two days into trial we settled the case on terms favorable to our client.

Defended an online metals exchange against claims that its trademark infringed the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s CHICAGO MERCANTILE EXCHANGE and CME trademarks. The case was voluntarily dismissed from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois after we completed briefing on summary judgment.
