Michael is a litigator with a diverse practice.  He focuses primarily on high-stakes products liability and mass tort litigation.  His clients include product manufacturers from a wide range of industries, including some of the world’s largest automakers.  Michael also has an active consumer financial services litigation practice in which he represents large financial institutions involved in credit card, banking, and mortgage litigation in courts throughout the country. 

Michael has substantial courtroom experience on both the trial and appellate levels.  He has briefed and argued discovery motions, motions in limine, and dispositive motions, and he has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  He has taken and defended dozens of depositions. 

Michael’s pro bono practice is active, and he has provided legal services in connection with the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Legal Aid Justice Center.  In addition, Michael has served as pro bono counsel to plaintiffs in federal civil rights cases. 

Before joining McGuireWoods, Michael served as a law clerk for Judge Stephanie Thacker of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. 

Michael is an active member of the Virginia Bar Association, and he has been named a “Rising Star” by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine.
