Melissa Moran Taylor Partner

Melissa represents financial industry clients in all stages of litigation in state and federal court and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings in both single plaintiff and class action matters.

She regularly defends and resolves consumer claims arising out of mortgage lending and servicing as well as other consumer credit transactions and collections activities. She has significant experience defending large financial institutions against claims arising out of the administration of securities lending programs and other institutional accounts. Melissa also has substantial experience representing both corporate trustees and charitable beneficiaries in disputes involving wills, trusts, and charitable gifts in Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court. Melissa also maintains an extensive pro bono practice.

Experience

Defended major financial institution and negotiated class-wide settlement in Florida class action where borrowers on vehicle finance loans challenged content of post-repossession notices.

Litigated contested petition to terminate charitable trust on behalf of corporate trustee and negotiated and obtained court approval of complex settlement involving five charitable beneficiaries and Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

Secured jury verdict for state prison inmate in § 1983 civil rights case.

Represented multiple major financial institutions in numerous complex actions in state and federal courts relating to securities lending investment programs.

Defended major financial institution in putative class actions challenging the investment of personal trust assets in affiliated mutual funds.

Protected charitable clients from subpoena inquiries in contentious matter with substantial media coverage.

Represented major financial institution in line of cases involving novel legal issue under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Managed substantial portfolio of contested foreclosure matters in multiple states.

Successfully negotiated dozens of settlements for large corporate clients.
