Ryan's legal practice focuses predominantly on real estate finance and real estate development. He represents a broad range of clients in these areas, including buyers and sellers in the acquisition and disposition of real property, borrowers and lenders in the origination of financings involving real estate collateral, and landlords and tenants in the drafting and negotiation of leases.
Additionally, Ryan has extensive experience representing large institutional lenders in the origination and management of finance arrangements, including commercial mortgage loan negotiations and closings, the purchase and sale of loan portfolios, and loan modifications. He has also provided representation in connection with bilateral and syndicated financings in connection with working capital, term loan, and financial assets financings in ABL and cash-flow transactions, ranging in size from several millions of dollars to almost two billion dollars.
Ryan was awarded a Donald L. Smith/Manila G. Shaver Scholarship to attend Duke University School of Law, where he graduated with honors. In connection with his undergraduate education at Campbell University, he received numerous merit scholarships and awards, was included on the President’s List for all semesters of his enrollment, and graduated with highest honors.
Ryan, his wife Christine, and their children live in Mt. Holly, North Carolina. In addition to his activities in and near the Charlotte metropolitan area, Ryan is an active volunteer in his home community near Hickory, North Carolina, and is particularly involved in matters relating to the church that he and his family attend.
