Scott M. Teakell Counsel

Scott practices in the areas of intellectual property procurement and general intellectual property counseling.

He represents clients in the energy, oil and gas, life sciences, and manufacturing industries, with a focus on clients for whom IP procurement and protection is a necessity. His experience includes drafting patent applications and prosecuting patents and trademarks before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Scott drafts and prosecutes patents in the chemical, biological, and mechanical arts, including patent applications for cement, downhole fluids, downhole tools, refinery equipment, gas-to-fuels technology, polymer production and applications, microfabrication technologies, electronic display components, material coatings, adhesives, optically clear films, flexible electronics substrates, marine geophysical surveying, and medical devices.

Scott has also prosecuted a number of trademark applications and counseled clients in other trademark areas such as showing secondary meaning, completing a statement of use, and filing a declaration of incontestability.

Before starting his career in law, Scott performed research in drug design and development at the Experimental Therapeutics Department of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
