Jon’s practice focuses on appellate litigation and dispositive motions.  Before joining McGuireWoods, Jon clerked at all three levels of the federal judiciary.  At the Supreme Court of the United States, Jon served as a law clerk to Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.  Earlier, he clerked for Judge Jeffrey Sutton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Amul Thapar of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.  During law school, Jon interned for Chief Justice Myron Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court.

Jon graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he competed on the extramural moot court team and served as articles development editor for the Virginia Law Review.  Jon earned his undergraduate degree in economics, summa cum laude, from the University of Delaware.
