Significant changes were made to regulations promulgated pursuant to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act in 2013.
While the deadline for compliance with most of the new rules was September 23, 2013, the changes will continue to affect the compliance efforts of providers in 2014.
