The Conference Board Governance Center, Northwestern Law and McGuireWoods are co-hosting a Director Roundtable focusing on preparation for and response to investor activism, and the implications of activism for corporate America and the economy. Our panel will also consider recent investor requests and board responses regarding “proxy access” bylaws.
Speakers
- Steve Odland, Committee for Economic Development (CED) of The Conference Board – Mr. Odland is the president of the CED, a current public company director and the former chairman and CEO at several other public companies. He will share his personal experience with activist investors and his thoughts on the effects of today’s activism on corporate decision-making and policy.
- Chris Wightman, CamberView Partners – Mr. Wightman will offer guidance based on his experience advising management and boards on preparing for and reacting to activist interest.
- Professor Allan Horwich, Northwestern University School of Law – Professor Horwich will analyze and lead discussion of proxy access bylaws being proposed by shareholders and voluntarily adopted by U.S. public companies.
