Partner Paul Van den Bulck spoke on the topic "Data protection and the “Clouds”: implications of cloud computing and virtualisation of data in a civil and criminal law context" at this conference in Paris hosted by the Academy of European Law. The main focus of the conference was the role played by national and European courts in safeguarding the fundamental right to data protection. The conference also discussed the latest developments in EU data protection law in the light of the most recent jurisprudence from the ECtHR and CJEU, as well as analysing the challenges of data protection in cloud computing and social networking.
