McGuireWoods labor and employment partner Gary Marshall was a guest on Charlotte radio station ESPN 730’s “Inside the Lines” program May 6 to discuss the ramifications of a recent Missouri Supreme Court ruling on National Football League employment disputes.
In a lawsuit brought by a former St. Louis Rams equipment manager, the court invalidated a league requirement of submitting all employment disputes to arbitration resolved by the NFL commissioner. Marshall noted that the court’s narrow ruling doesn’t apply to the current collective bargaining agreement between NFL players and owners.
