Raleigh Partner Joan Dinsmore Featured in UNC Law Pro Bono Newsletter

October 7, 2016

McGuireWoods Raleigh partner Joan S. Dinsmore (Product & Consumer Litigation) was profiled in the alumna feature in the latest edition of the University of North Carolina School of Law’s pro bono newsletter.

In the question-and-answer article, Dinsmore, a 2006 UNC Law graduate, explained the inspiration and motivation behind her pro bono practice, the challenges she faces in handling pro bono matters and the cases she is proud to have worked on. Dinsmore described her efforts to get a domestic violence survivor freed from a California prison in 2014 and her current work partnering with the Special Victims Unit of the Wake County District Attorney’s Office. She said she relishes the intellectual challenge of pro bono work and encourages law students to continue pro bono service after law school as a way to help those in need and obtain experience early in their careers. “I am always on the lookout for new and interesting projects, and I have used my pro bono practice to rotate through various areas of the law,” Dinsmore said.
