The Real Deal Ranks McGuireWoods Among Leading Law Firms in New York

McGuireWoods ranked among the leading law firms for representing lenders in commercial real estate financings in New York City, according to data compiled by news outlet The Real Deal for its November 2020 issue.

The firm ranked No. 25 based on total loan value for mortgages closed between Sept. 1, 2019 and Sept. 30, 2020 for properties in the city. McGuireWoods closed 16 deals valued at $258.4 million during the period, the magazine reported.

The top 40 law firms for debt deals closed just less than $26 billion in loans between September 2019 and September 2020. McGuireWoods was 19th of the top 40 firms in number of deals closed. Overall deal activity declined from the previous year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Real Deal reported.

McGuireWoods’ real estate finance team represents financial institutions, non-bank lenders (including REITs and equity funds) and other parties that provide capital to the real estate industry, in all types of real estate finance transactions, including construction, bridge and permanent lending, loan origination for secondary market securitization in GSE, CMBS and CLO execution, mezzanine lending, and loan servicing.
