Law360, Bloomberg Law Quote Charles Case on Biden’s EPA Nominee

December 29, 2020

Law360 and Bloomberg Law quoted Raleigh partner Charles Case in stories on the nomination of Michael Regan to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in President-elect Joe Biden’s administration. Regan currently serves as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.

Case is a partner in McGuireWoods’ Regulatory & Compliance Department and focuses his practice on environmental compliance and administrative law issues. In Law360’s Dec. 17, 2020, story, Case said he has had opportunities to interact with Regan over the past few years.

“If you look at his training, his experience, his background, his temperament, he has potential to be an excellent EPA administrator,” Case said, adding that, in North Carolina, “he’s addressed some very difficult problems that were high-profile locally, but some of which are also now nationally relevant, things like environmental justice, forever chemicals, climate change and pipelines.”

In Bloomberg Law’s Dec. 18, 2020, story, Case said, “It’s pretty clear that the Biden administration is going to make climate change a priority, and [the] EPA is going to be at the center of that.” Case observed that Regan “can look at it from a national and a state perspective. Appointing him would be a reflection of not only the national policy but the state’s role in that policy.”
