National Media Cover Arrival of D.C. Environmental Partners

April 20, 2020

National legal, environmental and energy-focused media covered the recent arrival of McGuireWoods partners Makram Jaber, Allison Wood and Aaron Flynn in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. The nationally recognized environmental litigators joined the firm’s Regulatory & Compliance Department.

The National Law Journal’s April 1, 2020, story on the trio’s arrival noted that they “have experience taming regulators and litigating environmental matters up to the U.S. Supreme Court level.”

Todd Mullins, managing partner of the firm’s D.C. office, told the NLJ the group “fits well into a number of elements of the firm’s strategic business planning.”

Wood described the move as “an exciting opportunity to come here and grow an environmental practice, as people start to rethink energy and how that intersects with being greener.”

In an interview with Inside EPA, Jaber said the partners moved to McGuireWoods because “there’s a lot of synergy between what we wanted to do and what the firm has to offer.”

Bloomberg Environment profiled the trio on April 6 in its weekly “Legal Spotlight” column. In that story, Wood said McGuireWoods’ decision to bring them on board amid the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic was encouraging.

“One of the great strengths of McGuireWoods was that they said, ‘Look, we’re a strong firm. We don’t give up opportunities like this. We’re 100% on board and moving ahead,’ ” Wood said.

E&E News, Reuters and Politico also carried reports on the new McGuireWoods partners. Bloomberg Law included the news in its April 2 “Wake Up Call” column.
