February 23, 2021

CBS Richmond affiliate WTVR profiled McGuireWoods partner Jacquelyn Stone in a story naming her a “trailblazer” attorney who has mentored a “pipeline of attorneys of color and women.” The story first aired on Feb. 17, 2021, in celebration of Black History Month.

The story highlighted Stone’s accomplishments as McGuireWoods’ first Black female attorney, the first Black woman partner in a major Virginia law firm, and the first Black person to serve on the firm’s Board of Partners. The story noted Stone’s recognition this year by The American Lawyer magazine as the “Best Mentor” in the country, underscoring her dedication to cultivating diversity and inclusion at McGuireWoods and within the legal profession.

WTVR lauded Stone’s contributions to the Richmond community, noting her role implementing a college prep and workforce development program called Partnership for the Future, which provides education and training for local high school students. Her leadership in the program, and her volunteerism on numerous state and local boards and commissions, also earned her recognition as a Richmond Times-Dispatch’s “Person of the Year” honoree in 2019.
