National Legal Media Cover Arrival of McGuireWoods D.C. Partner Jeffrey Ehrlich

March 22, 2022

The National Law JournalLaw360, Bloomberg Law and Global Banking Regulation Review were among the media outlets covering the arrival of Washington, D.C., partner Jeff Ehrlich, who joined McGuireWoods’ financial services litigation practice on March 14, 2022.

Ehrlich, former deputy enforcement director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), joined the agency in 2011, the year it was created. In a March 14 story in The National Law Journal, Ehrlich said of his experience there, “We developed an enforcement program from scratch, including developing the policies and procedures that would govern our work, and bringing the bureau’s earliest cases. There was a lot of breaking new ground in those days.”

At the CFPB, Ehrlich directed over 100 enforcement actions against financial services providers and often partnered with other federal regulatory bodies, enforcement agencies and state attorneys general. “Having spent a decade at the CFPB through different directors and different administrations provides me with valuable insight that could be helpful to clients seeking to comply with the laws that govern the space,” Ehrlich told The National Law Journal.

In a March 14 story in Law360, Ehrlich said he had a “wonderful run” at the CFPB and that his role at McGuireWoods offered an opportunity to apply his experience in a new way. His practice will cover compliance, government investigations and enforcement actions, he said.

Writer and commentator David Lat touted the arrivals of Ehrlich and Richmond partner Erin Ashwell as the “lateral moves of the week” in his Substack newsletter Original Jurisdiction.
