Jeffrey Clark Named Outstanding Healthcare Litigator

January 29, 2008

McGuireWoods partner Jeffrey C. Clark has been named an “Outstanding Healthcare Litigator” for 2007 by Nightingale’s Healthcare News. Clark is one of only 12 lawyers nationally who were selected for this honor.

The list of honorees is published in the January 2008 issue of Nightingale’s, a national newsletter for executives and other professionals serving the healthcare industry. Selection for inclusion in the list is made by the Nightingale’s editorial staff based on information obtained from former honorees and other sources in the legal community.

Nightingale’s noted that in 2007, Clark won a summary judgment on behalf of a managed care provider in a multimillion dollar lawsuit, obtained a reversal of an administrative decision to deny a national dialysis company reimbursement for bad debts and obtained a circuit court’s approval of a grant for a certificate of need for a new hospital despite a competitor’s challenge.

“Jeff is extremely dedicated to his clients and deserves this honor for the high level of healthcare litigation he does,” says Scott Becker, co-chair of McGuireWoods’ Health Care Department.

Clark concentrates his practice in various areas of complex commercial litigation, with his primary emphasis in health care litigation. He has represented health care and other clients across the country in matters involving managed care issues, contract law, covenants not to compete, trade secrets, injunctive relief, fraud and other business torts, unfair competition, partnership disputes, professional liability, product liability and ERISA matters. Clark has experience in all phases of trial and appellate practice, and has tried numerous cases to verdict in state and federal courts throughout the country.
