August 10, 2011

McGuireWoods LLP announced today that Melissa Glassman, a partner in the firm’s Tysons Corner office, has been named deputy managing partner for business development with the firm. As part of her new role, Glassman will help develop and expand the firm’s industry teams and, within the framework of the firm’s growth strategy, work to enhance the firm’s national and growing international client base.

“Melissa is the perfect person for this role, and we are grateful she has accepted these responsibilities,” said McGuireWoods Managing Partner Tom Cabaniss. “Having served this firm in so many leadership roles, she is well poised to strengthen our industry teams, ultimately offering a higher quality of service to our clients and prospects.”

She will join partners Terry Bagley (Litigation) and Nancy Little (Corporate) as deputy managing partners. Glassman currently serves as a member of the firm’s executive committee and is past chair of McGuireWoods’ Complex Commercial Litigation Department. She also served for several years as the office managing partner of the firm’s Tysons Corner office. In this new role, Glassman will continue to maintain an active practice, where she represents clients with matters involving commercial business interests, energy, construction, real estate and land use.

“Because of our industry focused approach to client service, McGuireWoods has been able to provide sophisticated legal advice to our clients from a unique and informed prospective,” Glassman said. “To that end, I am very excited about working with our industry teams to expand the relationships we have with our clients.”
