McGuireWoods Adds Restructuring Lawyer in Chicago

McGuireWoods LLP today announced that Brian Swett has joined the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency Department as a partner in Chicago. He will focus on representing senior secured lenders and other stakeholders in business restructurings and insolvencies, both in and out of court.

Swett, who previously was a partner in the Chicago office of another large firm, brings diverse experience handling debtor-in-possession bankruptcy financing, cash collateral, chapter 11 plan, section 363 sale and bankruptcy litigation matters for clients in various industries, including financial services, healthcare, senior living facilities, food and beverage, agriculture, manufacturing, real estate, retail, and technology. He has also advised clients on private and public sales, the acquisition of distressed assets and the resolution of unfunded and underfunded pension liabilities.

Swett earned a B.A. and M.A. in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, and a J.D. from the New York University School of Law. He is a recognized author and speaker on restructuring and insolvency issues and an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.
