Firm Takes Top Honors in Banking and Finance Law

November 3, 2014

McGuireWoods earned first-tier national rankings in 21 practice areas —including “Law Firm of the Year” in Banking and Finance Law — in the 2015 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms,” placing it among the 20 U.S. firms with the most top-tier rankings.

The firm’s top national ranking in Banking and Finance Law illustrates its consistent and growing strength in the area. McGuireWoods regularly ranks among the top 10 firms in syndicated loans by Thomson Reuters Loan Pricing Corporation’s Law Firm League Table. Through the first half of 2014, the firm’s debt finance practice ranked fifth in number of deals and fifth in overall dollar volume for its representation of lead arrangers and bookrunners in syndicated debt financings.

The top practice rankings came weeks after 18 McGuireWoods lawyers were listed in The Best Lawyers in America for 2015 in the area of Banking and Finance Law, the most of any firm in the nation.

“We are very proud of the team we have built at this firm in the past several years and we continue to grow, attracting and retaining excellent lawyers,” said Robert W. Cramer, a partner in the firm’s Charlotte, North Carolina, office and chairman of its Debt Finance practice. “The breadth of our transactional experience and the depth of our bench provides an extensive and nationally recognized advantage for our clients.”
