Law360 Survey Highlights McGuireWoods’ Depth in Nine Key Practice Areas

Firm Among Top 20 Nationally for Securities & White Collar

December 15, 2014

Nine McGuireWoods groups were recognized by Law360 in its ranking of U.S. law firms with the most partners in 10 key practices. The firm ranked among the top 25 firms in white collar and securities litigation, environmental, and product liability, and also was recognized in the areas of bankruptcy, M&A, real estate, insurance, employment and competition.

“A deep bench of world-class talent across areas of keen interest to corporate clients is the lifeblood of a great law firm, and McGuireWoods continues to stand out for the depth and breadth of our talent,” said Tom Cabaniss, the firm’s managing partner. “This is what drives our ability to meet the needs of our clients.”

The recently published rankings are based on partner head count data provided by 300 law firms, including the largest 200 firms in the United States.

Notably, McGuireWoods was listed in Law360’s top 20 in the securities and white collar category, underscoring the firm’s depth of talent in this all-important area.

McGuireWoods’ Government, Regulatory and Criminal Investigations practice includes several lawyers who held leadership positions in federal and state law enforcement agencies and other governmental bodies before joining the firm. Four of the firm’s white collar practitioners are ranked by Chambers USA in its 2014 guide. In addition, the firm received a first-tier national ranking for Litigation – Securities in the 2015 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.”

The firm’s environmental and product liability practices — which also ranked in the top 25 in Law360’s listings — were recently singled out by other authorities as well. The environmental practice received a first-tier national ranking in the Litigation – Environmental category from U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.” The firm’s product liability and mass torts practice is nationally ranked in Chambers USA. Both rankings are driven primarily by client feedback.

Positive client feedback also propelled McGuireWoods to a top 20 performance in the 2015 Client Service A-Team rankings, which were recently published by Boston-based BTI Consulting Group. The rankings are based on unprompted responses from leading legal decision makers at large organizations with revenue of $1 billion or more.
