McGuireWoods partner Hardeep S. Nahal has been named a London “Super Lawyer” for 2014, and partner Petar Orlic has been recognized as a London “Rising Star.” Lawyer rating service Super Lawyers will publish this year’s survey findings in its London Super Lawyers magazine.

Nahal was recognized for his work in alternative dispute resolution. He has more than two decades of experience in complex, high value commercial litigation and arbitration, often with an international dimension. His recent successes include winning a $110.5 million (U.S.) judgment for Energy Venture Partners in a high-profile dispute over the sale of a large oil block off the coast of Nigeria. He is recognized as a leading commercial litigator by Chambers and Legal 500 UK.

London Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” recognizes top up-and-coming lawyers who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing 10 or fewer years. Orlic was cited for his real estate practice. He focuses on all aspects of corporate real estate work with primary emphasis on commercial acquisitions, real estate finance and real estate management both in the UK and mainland Europe. Orlic recently led a McGuireWoods team that advised St. Martins Property Limited in negotiating the £43.9 million sale of highly coveted property in the heart of one of London’s most famous residential, entertainment and business districts. The Legal 500 UK guide lists Orlic as a recommended lawyer in the category of Real Estate – Commercial Property.

A Thomson Reuters publication, Super Lawyers identifies candidates through independent research and by inviting lawyers in each state to nominate the best attorneys they have observed in action. A lawyer-led research staff evaluates candidates on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Candidates also undergo a peer review by practice area.
