McGuireWoods Adds Tax and Renewable Energy Lawyer in Houston

Durham C. McCormick Jr. has joined McGuireWoods LLP’s Tax and Employee Benefits Department as a partner in the firm’s Houston office.

McCormick brings nearly a decade of experience advising clients in the energy industry with significant engagements for the development and financing of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and geothermal facilities. He advises clients on production and energy investment tax credits, project development agreements, project acquisitions and sales, power purchase agreements, financings, and federal and state tax planning and structuring, and other transactional matters.

“Durham’s experience in advising clients on energy tax credits, tax structuring, and project development makes him a valuable addition to our team,” said Craig Bell, chairman of McGuireWoods’ Tax and Employee Benefits Department. “We are excited to welcome him to the firm.”

McCormick comes to McGuireWoods from the Seattle office of Gordon Thomas Honeywell LLP, where he was a partner. He earned his LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004 and his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2003. He is licensed to practice in Washington and Oregon and his Texas bar admission is pending.
