Kay McNab, a highly accomplished banking and finance specialist, has joined McGuireWoods LLP as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office.

Her 25-year practice includes extensive banking, public finance, private debt and structured finance experience. She has represented commercial and investment banks as underwriters, placement agents, and providers of credit enhancement. She also has represented numerous U.S. and international banks and diversified financial service companies in commercial banking matters, as well as senior lenders in large syndicated secured and unsecured loan transactions.

According to Alan Cason, chair of McGuireWoods’ public finance practice, Ms. McNab will deepen the firm’s already considerable banking and finance capabilities.

“Kay is a well-known player in municipal finance and bank lending whose addition strengthens the firm’s national bank lending and underwriting practices, along with our presence in the Illinois public finance market,” said Mr. Cason. “We are delighted she has chosen to join our team.”

“We’re excited to welcome Kay to the firm,” added Amy Manning, managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office. “Her vast experience will enhance the services we provide to our banking clients in the Midwest and across the country.”

“I am very pleased to be joining the Chicago office of McGuireWoods and I look forward working with such nationally recognized public finance and lending professionals,” McNab said. “I know that my clients will benefit greatly from the expanded capabilities and geographic breadth of the firm.”

McNab comes to McGuireWoods from the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn LLP, where she was a partner and served as a member of the firm’s compensation committee and audit committee. There, she was part of teams that represented Energy Transfer Partners LP in a $1.45 billion refinancing transaction and that assisted in the creation of Shawnee Ventures LLC, a venture capital firm that provides seed capital for small southern Illinois technology start-ups.

She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1985, and her law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1988. She was a notes and comments editor for the University of Illinois Law Review and a member of Order of the Coif.
