Seth T. Goldsamt, an accomplished corporate lawyer whose 20-year career includes negotiating deals across a wide range of industry sectors, has joined McGuireWoods as a partner in its New York office.

His wide-ranging experience includes an array of high-profile transactions, including numerous public and private securities offerings, domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, complex private equity transactions, and mezzanine financings.

“We are delighted to attract an accomplished dealmaker with such a rich and varied practice,” said Richard W. Viola, chairman of the firm’s Securities Department. “One of our key strategic goals is to continue enhancing our transactional practice in New York and across our network. The addition of Seth continues to advance that goal.”

Goldsamt has deep experience in the energy (including renewable energy), technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), pharmaceuticals/health care and consumer products industries.

“I love the art and challenge of high-end deal making, and McGuireWoods is a great platform for me to continue to expand my practice,” Goldsamt said. “The firm is known for its commitment to providing the highest level of service to clients. I look forward to working with lawyers who share my passion for helping clients build their businesses and, in particular, I look forward to working with New York partners Stephen Older and Jeff Rothschild, both of whom I had previously worked and collaborated with for many years.”

Goldsamt is a 1991 graduate of Columbia College who earned his law degree in 1995 from the Columbia University School of Law.

He joins a corporate practice that received a national Tier 1 ranking in Securities/Capital Markets Law in the 2015 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.” The firm ranks among the top-performing law firms in Bloomberg’s 2014 Global Legal Adviser League Tables. It is seventh in volume ($23.9 billion) for U.S. Investment Grade Issuer Advisers and seventh in deal (65) count in the same category, and ranked ninth in both volume ($29.9 billion) and deal count (69) for U.S. Corporate Issuer Advisers.

McGuireWoods also has a reputation for providing high-quality merger and acquisition counsel on matters throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim. Among other accolades, Corporate Counsel magazine has listed McGuireWoods among the top 10 “go-to law firms” in the nation, as selected by in-house counsel at the 500 largest U.S. companies.
