McGuireWoods Earns Top Rankings in Legal 500 Europe 2016 Guide

April 26, 2016

McGuireWoods was recognized as a leading law firm in three corporate practice areas and three major industry sectors in The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa 2016, marking the firm’s strongest showing to date in the highly esteemed guide to Europe’s leading law firms.

Based on feedback from clients and the work of the firm’s lawyers, McGuireWoods earned Tier 1 rankings – the highest possible – for its work representing clients in the manufacturing and retail sectors. The Legal 500 also recognized McGuireWoods among the top law firms in the information technology and telecommunications sector and in the following practice areas: real estate and construction; customs, trade, WTO and anti-dumping law; and commercial, corporate, and mergers and acquisitions law.

In addition, the guide singled out Brussels lawyers Vassilis Akritidis, Hubert André-Dumont, Pol Cools, Yves Melin, Steven Ongena, Timothy Speelman and Paul Van den Bulck for their work in these areas.

The Legal 500 guide describes the firm’s manufacturing clients as “very satisfied” with McGuireWoods’ performance, stating that clients value the firm’s “no-nonsense approach” as an “efficient and available business partner.” The guide recognizes McGuireWoods as being valued for its “global reach and strong business focus” in the information technology and telecommunications sector, as well as its “in-depth expertise in the retail sector.”

This latest recognition follows McGuireWoods’ high marks in Chambers and Partners’ 2016 Global Guide, another prominent legal industry publication spotlighting leading firms and practitioners. Chambers Global ranked McGuireWoods among the international trade elite, citing the firm’s anti-dumping and anti-subsidy practice and its experience in customs law and sanctions. A leader in international trade law, McGuireWoods was instrumental in co-founding Green Lane, a network of allied European law firms that help manufacturers and service providers navigate customs and international trade laws across EU member states.
