March 23, 2017

McGuireWoods partner Jennifer J. Stearman has been honored by The Daily Record of Maryland with a 2017 Leadership in Law Award.

Stearman, a Baltimore debt finance lawyer renowned for her work with energy and healthcare industry clients and her leadership in charitable and community initiatives, will be honored with other recipients at a May 11 event.

Stearman advises and represents issuers, underwriters, borrowers, lenders and service providers in connection with private and public structured finance and securitization transactions involving a wide range of asset classes. She also provides counsel in connection with tax-exempt and taxable healthcare, higher education, PACE, equipment, project and lease finance transactions. Among her many community service accomplishments, she led the 2016 Greater Baltimore Go Red for Women campaign for the American Heart Association. She served for more than 13 years on the board of the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital, including three years as its chair from 2011 to 2014.

In 2015, The Daily Record inducted her into its Circle of Excellence, an honor reserved for those named three times to the publication’s Maryland’s Top 100 Women list. The newspaper also selected her for its 2011 VIP List and its 2010 list of Maryland’s Leading Women.

The Daily Record, which publishes digital and print editions covering law, business and government, has presented the Leadership in Law Awards annually since 2001 to recognize the best legal work by lawyers across Maryland. Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record, said lawyers are honored for their important contributions to the legal profession and for their work to nurture upcoming generations of lawyers.

“Mentoring is a critical component to receiving the Leadership in Law Award, and this year’s honorees demonstrate that strong commitment to future leaders of the law profession,” Fischer-Huettner said. “We at The Daily Record are pleased to recognize them.”
