March 13, 2017

McGuireWoods senior counsel Angela Zimmern has been selected for the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2017 40 Under 40 list, which honors Charlotte-area professionals younger than 40 for career achievements and community leadership. The honorees are featured in a special section published March 10.

Zimmern is a leader of the firm’s legal project management (LPM) program, ClientSync, and was instrumental in creating its proprietary budget and matter management tool, Compass. She coordinates McGuireWoods’ highly successful Charlotte pro bono program, which earned four public service honors in 2016.

“I am honored to be part of this year’s 40 Under 40 class and to be mentioned in a group that includes so many accomplished, community-minded individuals,” Zimmern said. “I am also grateful to McGuireWoods and all of those who have helped make our pro bono efforts so successful.”

Zimmern manages a thriving pro bono partnership between McGuireWoods and the Council for Children’s Rights, which provides legal services and advocacy in the areas of child welfare, custody, delinquency, mental health and special education. She also has worked with Legal Aid of Mecklenburg County’s Safe Child Immigrant Project to help refugees obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Status after fleeing from violence.

Her notable community betterment initiatives include serving as board president and primary outside counsel for A Child’s Place, a nonprofit that supports homeless children in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.

“Angie is a natural leader who impresses us all with her dedication to McGuireWoods’ clients and the community, and we’re proud to see her receive this well-deserved honor,” said Scott Vaughn, managing partner of the firm’s Charlotte office.
