John Henderson, a leading litigator in matters involving complex scientific issues, has joined McGuireWoods’ Product and Consumer Litigation Department as a partner in Dallas, where he will advise clients across industries in high-stakes product liability and mass tort litigation.

Henderson — who came to McGuireWoods from Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker — has acted as national and regional trial and coordinating counsel for automotive, pharmaceutical, medical device and chemical manufacturers, cross-examining scientific witnesses and preparing scientific experts for trial. He advises on crisis communications and media relations strategy surrounding high-profile litigation. He also represents clients in commercial disputes, including franchise/distributor and business tort matters.

With more than 40 years of litigation experience, Henderson is board certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Association of Defense Counsel. He also is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

“John’s deep knowledge across medical disciplines, coupled with his experience trying product liability cases, is invaluable to our automotive and other Fortune 500 clients,” said McGuireWoods’ Product and Consumer Litigation Department chair Sam Tarry.

“John has built a distinguished career litigating matters across Texas and nationwide on behalf of clients in various industries,” Dallas office managing partner Akash Sethi said. “We are thrilled to expand our complex commercial litigation capabilities in Dallas with John’s addition.”

“I am excited to join McGuireWoods, whose national reputation for leading major product liability and mass tort litigation is second to none,” Henderson said.

Among its numerous accolades, McGuireWoods earned a Band 1 nationwide ranking — the highest possible — for products liability and mass torts in Chambers USA; recognition in Legal 500 U.S. for product liability, mass torts and class actions in automotive/transport, consumer products and toxic tort-defense; and Law360 honors as an “Automotive Practice Group of the Year” and a “Litigation Powerhouse.” McGuireWoods also is one of only two firms named in all eight practice categories in BTI Litigation Outlook, earning the elite “Powerhouse” ranking for product liability and complex commercial litigation and “Standout” recognition for class actions and torts.
