Steve Busch Heads Virginia Law Foundation

January 23, 2018

McGuireWoods Richmond partner Steve Busch has been named 2018 president of the Virginia Law Foundation (VLF).

Busch’s predecessor as VLF president, Lucia Anna “Pia” Trigiani, noted in a Jan. 2 post on the VLF website that “it is the perspective that comes with experience and thoughtful decision making that will be the signature of Busch’s year leading the Virginia Law Foundation.” McGuireWoods partners Anne Marie Whittemore (1991-92) and Thomas C. Brown Jr., now retired, (2003-04) also served as president of the foundation.

The VLF is a nonprofit that, since its inception in 1974, has awarded more than $25 million in grants to fund projects throughout Virginia that facilitate access to justice, cultivate an appreciation and understanding of the rule of law, and promote law-related education. The foundation also recognizes excellence in community service and the practice of law through its Fellows program and operates VA CLE, the leading provider of continuing legal education in Virginia. Nearly 30 McGuireWoods partners have been elected fellows since the program was established in 1983.

Busch was elected a fellow of the VLF in 2012 and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation the following year. He serves on the faculty for the Virginia State Bar’s Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course. He is a member of the Boyd-Graves Conference and served as president of the Virginia Bar Association in 2010.

Busch is the immediate past chair of McGuireWoods’ Toxic Torts & Environmental Litigation Department and a former member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Partners.
