McGuireWoods Continues Private Equity Team Expansion With Addition of Stuart Rasley in Dallas

September 4, 2018

Accomplished deal lawyer Stuart Rasley has joined McGuireWoods as a partner in Dallas, continuing the strategic expansion of the firm’s highly ranked private equity industry team.

Rasley advises public and private companies, investors and financial institutions in M&A, private equity and securities transactions, and other corporate matters. He handles significant deals in industries such as manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, insurance, real estate and energy. His recent experience includes assisting one of Europe’s largest listed infrastructure funds in the $215 million acquisition of a company that operates highway service areas in Connecticut.

“Stuart brings an impressive track record closing deals for domestic and international clients,” said Michael Woodard, chair of McGuireWoods’ M&A and Corporate Transactions Department. “He understands the legal and business challenges facing companies and investors in today’s market and his perspective as a lawyer and former Big Four consultant will benefit our clients immensely.”

Rasley comes to McGuireWoods from Squire Patton Boggs. Before graduating with honors from the University of Texas School of Law, he was a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas.

“Many of our Dallas deal lawyers have worked closely with Stuart and know he is a perfect fit for our powerhouse private equity team,” said Akash Sethi, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Dallas office and a member of the private equity industry team. “His experience complements our well-established strengths in middle-market deals and independent sponsor transactions.”

McGuireWoods represents clients in all types of private equity transactions, including leveraged buyouts, roll-ups, minority and junior capital investments, independent sponsor transactions and acquisitions of troubled companies. It is the first law firm to implement a nationwide program connecting independent sponsors with potential capital providers for specific private equity deals. The firm will host its second annual national conference for independent sponsors and capital providers Oct. 2-3 in Dallas.

“McGuireWoods’ corporate lawyers are making a mark with innovative initiatives to connect businesses and investors and generate deal opportunities, and I am excited to join this world-class team,” Rasley said.

Mergers & Acquisitions magazine recently named McGuireWoods “Law Firm of the Year” in its Mid-Market M&A Awards, honoring the firm for the growth of its deal work and for innovative, client-focused private equity initiatives. McGuireWoods ranked among the top law firms for global mid-market private equity deals in the first half of 2018 in authoritative league tables published by Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg.
