McGuireWoods partner Mark E. Anderson has been appointed to the North Carolina Rules Advisory Commission by Chief Justice Cheri Beasley of the North Carolina Supreme Court. The 12-member commission is charged with revising the state’s Rules of Civil Procedure and General Rules of Practice to allow for implementation of a statewide electronic filing and case management system.

Anderson, based in the firm’s Raleigh office, leads McGuireWoods’ national trial team. His focus is on trial work, representing clients in matters involving product liability, healthcare, toxic and mass torts, financial contracts, complex commercial litigation and appeals.

“I am honored to serve on the Rules Advisory Commission and look forward to working with the commission on recommendations to improve the administration of justice in our state,” said Anderson, whose term will expire Dec. 31, 2021.

Anderson has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is ranked in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America each year since 2007. North Carolina Lawyers Weekly named Anderson to its “Leaders in the Law” list in 2017.
