Introducing One McGuireWoods: An Alumni Community

December 17, 2019

McGuireWoods has launched a network to bring together the firm’s talented alumni from across the United States and United Kingdom. The new alumni program kicks off with the publication of a digital magazine and LinkedIn group, featuring profiles of distinguished alumni from California to Washington, D.C., insights from lawyers who returned to the firm and recent happenings at McGuireWoods.

“This new alumni program strengthens our connections to those who are part of the McGuireWoods family,” Chairman Jonathan Harmon said. “We are proud to showcase our alumni and their stellar accomplishments.”

In addition to discussions with alums from coast to coast who have gone from private practice to corporate legal roles — including Global Eagle’s Kim Nakamaru, Google’s Nick Lewis and Alfa Laval’s Liz Lamb — the inaugural issue of the magazine features McGuireWoods Pittsburgh partner Jerry Stubenhofer, who rejoined the firm after leading the legal department at General Nutrition Centers Inc., and partner Michael Herring, a former summer associate who returned to the firm after a distinguished career as Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney.

The magazine provides news on recent career moves by McGuireWoods alumni who serve on the federal bench and with the U.S. Department of Justice, transitioned to academia and joined the legal departments of prominent international companies. Other stories cover McGuireWoods’ recent honor as one of the country’s most innovative law firms, the expansion of the firm’s summer associate program, and top five league table rankings establishing McGuireWoods as a go-to law firm for M&A and private equity transactions.

The firm also plans to expand its alumni events nationwide in 2020 so McGuireWoods lawyers can reunite with former colleagues.
