Virginia Business Magazine Names 30 McGuireWoods Lawyers to Legal Elite

December 12, 2019

Thirty McGuireWoods lawyers were selected by their professional peers for inclusion in Virginia Business magazine’s 2019 Legal Elite, published in its December issue.

McGuireWoods lawyers were honored in 14 Legal Elite categories, with five recognized in Intellectual Property/Information Technology, four in Civil Litigation, and three each in Bankruptcy Creditors’ Rights, Business Law, Criminal Law and Labor/Employment Law.

The magazine also profiled Richmond partner Brian C. Riopelle as a top vote-getter in the Intellectual Property/IT category. Riopelle discussed his most memorable IP case, when McGuireWoods represented DuPont in a major dispute in which a South Korean company stole trade secrets related to the client’s Kevlar technology. He also described the types of intellectual property disputes arising during the rollout of 5G technology.

Virginia Business publishes the Legal Elite annually in collaboration with the Virginia Bar Association. More than 1,400 lawyers participated in this year’s balloting, submitting nearly 5,000 nominations.
