McGuireWoods’ Miles Indest Named to Young Energy Professionals Leadership Council

February 25, 2019

The Institute for Energy Law has selected McGuireWoods’ Miles Indest for its Young Energy Professionals Leadership Council.

IEL chose Indest, a business litigator who serves energy clients in Texas and Louisiana, after a highly competitive selection process. The 10-member council includes landmen, engineers, attorneys and other professionals younger than 40 who serve the energy industry. YEPLC members participate in professional development programs, educational programs in oil and gas law, forums exploring energy industry trends and opportunities to network with industry leaders.

“It’s clear that Miles’ excellent work and level of industry knowledge were persuasive,” said Ryan Purpura, who leads McGuireWoods’ energy industry team.

“Miles understands the business challenges our energy clients face and dedicates himself to helping them find the best solutions to them. We are grateful to the IEL for recognizing that by selecting him to the council,” said Jay Hughes, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Houston office.

Indest focuses his practice on helping energy clients resolve business disputes and protect their intellectual property. Companies seek him out for rapid-response solutions when they face business disruptions from competitors, contractors or former employees.

“I am grateful for this enormous opportunity to enhance my value to clients in the energy industry,” said Indest, who simultaneously earned a J.D. and master’s degree in business administration from Tulane University in 2016.

McGuireWoods’ multidisciplinary energy team includes more than 200 lawyers who work across sectors, from electric and gas, to natural gas and renewable fuels, to coal and emerging technologies. McGuireWoods earned rankings in six energy-related practice categories in the 2018 edition of The Legal 500 United States
