McGuireWoods’ Michele Satterlund to Lead Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association

June 6, 2019

McGuireWoods partner Michele Satterlund was elected president of the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association at the organization’s May 29 meeting. Satterlund, also a senior vice president at McGuireWoods Consulting, will focus on growing the association’s membership during her yearlong term.

“Women lawyers in the Richmond region practice in small nonprofits, represent the public sector, litigate in large firms and provide counsel to corporations,” Satterlund said. “It’s important that the association meets the needs of all these women, and I’m honored to lead that effort in the year ahead.”

At McGuireWoods, Satterlund represents national and international companies in the technology, pharmaceutical, transportation, healthcare and manufacturing industries. She leads McGuireWoods Consulting’s Women in Public Affairs initiative, which provides a platform for women in government affairs and advocacy to share thought leadership and best business practices. Satterlund also co-founded the Unmanned Systems Association of Virginia, the first state-level organization dedicated to lobbying and advocacy for all unmanned systems industry sectors — ground, aerial and maritime.

She recently was honored with a Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award, the legal industry’s premier writing prize presented by the Burton Awards, a national nonprofit program run in association with the Library of Congress.

With more than 220 members, MRWBA supports professional development of women lawyers through education and networking opportunities. It hosts CLE events and fundraisers and participates in numerous annual public service projects.
