Brackett, Hall and Terwilliger Selected for Who’s Who Legal: Investigations 2020

January 7, 2020

McGuireWoods partners Alex Brackett, Matthew Hall and George Terwilliger are recognized again among the world’s top government investigations lawyers in Who’s Who Legal: Investigations 2020.

The annual report is based on recommendations from clients and peers, along with independent research conducted by Global Investigations Review and Who’s Who Legal. This year’s honorees will be profiled in Who’s Who Legal: Investigations 2020, published in March.

Brackett and Terwilliger are members of McGuireWoods’ nationally recognized Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department, which ranks among the world’s premier practices in Global Investigations Review’s GIR 100 guide.

Brackett of Richmond, Virginia, handles internal investigations for large corporate clients and defends them in criminal and regulatory investigations into alleged healthcare and financial fraud, environmental crimes, bribery and violations of sanctions and export control laws.

Hall is a London-based lawyer who counsels multinational and domestic clients on all aspects of EU and UK antitrust and competition law, both contentious and non-contentious. He has held various leadership positions with the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section, including his current position as a presenter on the Section’s “Our Curious Amalgam” podcast series.

Terwilliger is one of Washington, D.C.’s most sought-after attorneys for high-stakes corporate investigations and high-profile white-collar defense cases. He spent 15 years in the U.S. Department of Justice, starting as a law clerk and concluding his service as acting attorney general. He recently led a McGuireWoods team that claimed victory for former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock, ending the highly publicized federal case alleging misuse of campaign and government funds.

The Legal 500 United States, a premier list of the country’s best law firms, commended McGuireWoods for the “exceptional quality” of its powerhouse white collar litigation practice. In addition, The American Lawyer named the firm a Global Legal Awards finalist for litigation/dispute resolution of the year.
