BTI Survey Ranks McGuireWoods a ‘Standout’ in Six Key Litigation Practices

October 14, 2020

McGuireWoods earned recognition as a leading law firm in six litigation categories in “BTI Litigation Outlook 2021: The Pandemic Led Market.” BTI Consulting’s annual litigation survey — based on unprompted feedback from corporate counsel — focuses on trends that will shape the market in 2021 as companies deal with ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have about 500 outstanding litigators, and their daily hard work, creativity and commitment to client service have earned this recognition from our valued clients,” said Dion Hayes, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation.

McGuireWoods was among an elite group of firms that earned “standout ratings” in the following categories: class actions, securities and finance litigation, complex employment litigation, product liability, routine commercial litigation and complex commercial litigation. Corporate counsel surveyed by BTI expect a surge of cases in many of those areas because of the pandemic.

“The number of matters clients face is soaring,” BTI wrote. “In addition, companies expect more litigation that ever before, meaning new clients will come into the market and existing clients will face new needs.”

Earlier this year, corporate counsel named McGuireWoods among a select group of law firms that are “leading the pack” guiding clients through the COVID-19 pandemic, according to BTI. McGuireWoods and its full-service public affairs arm, McGuireWoods Consulting, established a COVID-19 Response Team  to assist clients with legal, business, public affairs and crisis management needs arising from the pandemic.

BTI’s surveys of corporate counsel consistently rate McGuireWoods as a leading law firm for innovation and client service excellence. The firm has been recognized 14 times on BTI’s Client Service A-Team, the respected annual survey of law firm performance.
