McGuireWoods’ Natasha Cooper Heads to U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta

March 11, 2021

Natasha Cooper, an associate in McGuireWoods’ Complex Commercial Litigation Department in Atlanta, will join the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia at the end of March as assistant U.S. attorney in the criminal division. Her last day at the firm is March 12, 2021.

Cooper, who joined McGuireWoods in 2018, focused her litigation and regulatory practice on representing financial institutions, broker-dealers and investment advisers against consumers and government regulators in federal and state courts. Her pro bono representation includes representing a defendant on death row in Alabama for post-conviction relief, and assisting with an affirmative asylum application for a woman who fled violence and abuse during the civil war in Cameroon, Africa.

While pursuing her J.D. from Emory University School of Law, Cooper was a Kessler-Edison Scholar and earned membership in the Order of Barristers. She received the Dean’s Award for Public Service when she graduated and was honored with the Edward J. Henning Award for excellence in dispute resolution by the Atlanta Bar Association.

“I will truly miss my McGuireWoods family. It was an honor working alongside the talented staff and attorneys,” Cooper said. “I am grateful for the opportunities the firm has provided me and look forward to carrying what I have learned to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”

“Natasha has been an invaluable part of our team during her time at the firm,” said partner Cheryl Haas, chair of McGuireWoods’ Financial Services Litigation Department. “We wish her all the best in her new role.”
