Minority Corporate Counsel Association Honors Greg Kilpatrick as 2021 Rainmaker

August 19, 2021

McGuireWoods partner Greg R. Kilpatrick has been named an MCCA Rainmaker by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the legal profession’s premier diversity and inclusion organization. The annual list recognizes lawyers who have achieved success through innovative, consistent and proactive business development and have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and service to their communities.

Kilpatrick chairs the firm’s global Securities & Capital Markets Department, leading a team of more than 50 lawyers who concentrate on securities and corporate finance matters and represent some of the world’s largest businesses and financial institutions. His corporate practice includes handling private equity, securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions matters for clients in the banking, technology, gas and underground utilities, and industrial cleaning industries.

Kilpatrick co-leads McGuireWoods’ Black Professionals in Private Equity & Finance Initiative, which brings together professionals from across the financial services sector to network, share ideas and promote change in the industry. Launched earlier this year, the initiative features panel discussions and roundtables with leaders in the financial services sector and an online series highlighting trailblazers and rising stars.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kilpatrick is a board member of the Mecklenburg County Bar and chaired its diversity and inclusion committee from 2017-2020. He also serves as general counsel and co-chair of public policy for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

“I am honored to be recognized by the MCCA, an organization that has played an important role advancing diversity and inclusion throughout the legal profession,” Kilpatrick said. “I am equally proud of McGuireWoods’ commitment to D&I and I am grateful to my colleagues for their support.”

Kilpatrick and his fellow MCCA Rainmaker honorees will be recognized in October 2021 at the organization’s virtual Creating Pathways to Diversity Conference.

This is the fourth year in a row that a McGuireWoods lawyer has been recognized as an MCCA Rainmaker. Bryan C. Brantley, leader of the firm’s transportation industry team, received the honor in 2020; Raj Natarajan, chair of the firm’s Debt Finance Department, was named to the list in 2019; and deputy managing partner Joanne Katsantonis was recognized in 2018.
